Wicoms launches digital services platform for leisure communities

New commercial opportunity for site owners and service providers

14th November, 2008 – London, UK – Wicoms, the digital entertainment services company, today announced the launch of its digital services platform for leisure communities. By providing multiple services over a single network, the Wicoms platform enables environments such as leisure parks, sports stadia, hotel and hotel complexes to offer new digital entertainment, communications and management services. Deploying the Wicoms platform creates a valuable commercial opportunity for site owners and service providers.

The ability to aggregate entertainment and communication services on a single platform ensures that Wicoms is able to work with any number of third party service providers to deliver an innovative mix of content for a range of customers including holidaymakers, sports fans and leisure travellers. By being able to target specific communities in this way, Wicoms is also opening up commercial opportunities for service providers by allowing them to benefit from new advertising potential from a previously difficult-to-reach on-site audience.

As well as solving broadband and Wi-Fi connectivity issues for owners of leisure communities, the Wicoms platform allows these communities to differentiate themselves through the delivery of IPTV, VoIP, gaming and mobile services to consumers. By connecting their own laptops or other network devices to the Wicoms enabled network, customers can access services easily and securely for a small fee, providing a ‘pay as you go’ revenue generating channel for the site owner. Additionally the venue owners are able to deploy their own CCTV, EPoS and facilities management services.

“In an increasingly networked world, ubiquitous access to Internet-delivered entertainment and communications is increasingly seen as the norm,” said Robb Scott, Wicoms CEO. “Today’s consumers have every right to expect the same kind of entertainment options on holiday as they do at home which is why we are setting the standard for the delivery of a new generation of entertainment choice in a range of leisure venues. As we do this, we are creating the right conditions for service providers to reach a new audience and for community owners to build an experience around their ‘virtual’ estate.”

For a low investment cost, Wicoms installs, manages and operates the network over which its digital services platform runs, leaving the community owner to focus on the customer experience and deliver a greater choice of entertainment options.

“The digital opportunity in communities has come of age now that there is an associated possibility to generate new streams of revenue from the right mix of content and services,” commented Robb Scott. “The Wicoms platform makes it possible to target the community audience in a variety of new ways. It is the digital glue that brings communities together.”

Initially targeting the UK, Wicoms plans to roll out its platform across other suitable venues in the European leisure market.
